Eva Kjellberg, An Inspirational Journey
Artist Statement
As a painter who has worked with different mediums, watercolor is my medium of choice. Watercolor is the most spontaneous medium I have worked in. While brushstrokes and technique provide some control, the results from the beginning to end can be full of surprises. My style varies, at times I apply paint loosely, at other times with more focused detail, the composition subject either impressionistic or illustrative.
Familiar sites can become beacons for inspiration. I am fascinated by the architecture from turn of the century New England. I enjoy painting urban scenes of everyday life and people going about their day.
My paintings have appeared in numerous group and individual shows. I studied art at various schools in New York City; was a creative Arts Therapist, followed by a practice in Clinical Social Work. Now retired, I have continued my art studies and taken courses at Kimball Jenkins in Concord, New Hampshire. I am a member of the New Hampshire chapter of the Women’s Caucus On The Arts.
